Coventry City 0-1 Yeovil Town Coventry City 0-1 Yeovil Town

Well like Tuesday night Ive gone home disappointed once again, in another game we really needed to win we have come off with the wrong result. I think its right to say our season has more or le s ben shattered in the space of a week Andrew Ference Men Jersey with a up battle to come back from 3-0 down in the second leg vs Crewe to now our play offs ambition in tatters. Going to be a big ask now but still a lot of games to go but Im not confident myself.Mark Robins made one change to the starting line up from Tuesdays JPT clash with Crewe as James Bailey came in for Stephen Elliot who dropped to the bench bringing in a change of formation in 4-5-1, Joe Murphy was also pa sed fit to play which was a big boost considering the embarra sing performance from Chris Dunn Tuesday night. Coventry started off brightly and almost scored in the first minutes through Franck Mou sa as he was played through only for keeper Marek Stech to make himself big and save well with his feet. Danger man for Yeovil Paddy Madden pounced on a cro s but it was over Joe Murphys goal, their first chance of the game. The home side thought they had broken the deadlock as James Bailey shot come cro s fell to a City player who poked a shot towards goal bringing out a save from Stech with Carl Baker putting the ball in the net only for the linesman to call it as offside. The captain then brought out a relative save from Stech with a shit from long range. Leon Clarke almost embarra sed the Czech keeper though as he tried to loop a shot over his head but it went just wide after some hesitating play from Yeovil backline. It was all City as James Bailey was played in by Mou sa with a Josh Archibald Jersey cracking pa s to the find the midfielder but his shot was straight at keeper Stech. The away side finally created there first real chance of the half as some neat pa sing sent Sam Foley in bringing out a brilliant save from Joe Murphy and still on the attack Joe Edwards deflected shot forcing the Irishman into another save with a one handed save which was headed clear, some good attacking play by the visitors. James Hayter should really have scored as he was left unmarked with a free header going towards goal but thankfully it was wide. Leon Clarke then had a wasteful opportunity come his way as clean Tobias Rieder Men Jersey through on goal he poked an effort towards goal beating the keeper but it didnt have much power on it and it was cleared away. Coventry would be kicking themselves for the wasted chances a bit like the Crewe match as Paddy Madden was played through on the counter attack to slot home past Murphy to make it 1-0 to the away side.Coventry changed it straight away with what seemed an enforced changed with left back Blair Adams going off to be replaced by Jordan Clarke. Coventry started off well as James Bailey just fired a shot over the bar. The home side sent on Stephen Elliot for Gary McSheffrey and the substitute nearly made his mark count as inside the area the striker shot rattled off the cro sbar and was cleared only for Steven Jennings to blaze over after recovering the ball, very unlucky with some brilliant play. Captain Baker had another chance like his first with a shot just outside the box but it was easy for Marek Stech. The attendance for the match was 11,277, ma sive change from the mid-week game, just shows there are a lot of part timers in Coventry. The away side brought (727 away) and fair play to them they werent too bad in all honesty. Yeovil made their first attempt of the half as the man again Madden brought out a cracking save from Murphy diving to his right to parry it away. Coventry dominated the rest of the game though as Elliot tried a cheeky curling shot but Stech caught it well. Both sides changed it with Jennings coming off for John Fleck whilst the away side brought on Dominic Blizzard for a yellow carded Foley, one of two booked players along with team mate Kevin Dawson. I Raphael Lavoie Kids Jersey thought the officials were quite poor in my opinion overall, wouldnt say they cost us the game but decision making was bad. City still dominating were left frustrated as every cro s was cleared away by the presence of 6+ foot centre backs in Dan Burn and Byron Webster who were dominant in the air, dont understand why we put the ball into the box with the aerial power they had, very frustrating to watch. Stephen Elliot again almost became the super sub as he did well to connect to a cro s only for his shot just to bobble wide from a first time his shot. Carl Baker with his third attempt on gaol bring out a save from Marek Stech, causing the keeper to tip over after the midfielder shot from distance but it just wouldnt go in for the City. Two home defeats Laurent Brossoit Jersey in a row now and not scoring in any of them, slightly worrying me in all honesty. I dont think we will get play offs or come back in the JPT, to many games in hand for teams around us and losing today is a big blow. Full credit to Yeovil they like Crewe caught us on the break and took their chances. I cant moan that we arent dominating the game or creating chances because we are, just look at the stats for this game below and the last game we played, we really need to start taking our chances. A week to recover now ready for a away day at Bury! Hope to see another skyblue win! PUSB From the stats I simply don't know how we didn't score!
